Houston is fortunate to have sixteen Sister Cities around the world. Each local association is community-based, with a volunteer organization that fosters and implements cultural, commercial, educational, and humanitarian exchanges between its counterparts. Sister Cities of Houston (SCH) is the “umbrella” under which the sixteen cooperate. It is administered by the Houston International Protocol Alliance for the City of Houston.

This is an exciting year. Since we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of SCI, many activities are planned. Just a few of them are the World Fare Zone at IFest 2006—Houston's annual International Festival—complete with ethnic foods, markets and entertainment; a Community Summit on Citizen Diplomacy, led by an Ambassador; and a soccer tournament between our associations.
