MEDIA ADVISORY Sister Cities of Houston hosts 3rd Annual Soccer Tournament 

What:              Local men’s teams representing Houston and 7 of its sister cities will battle for the championship at the 3rd annual Sister Cities of Houston Soccer Tournament. Cities represented include: Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.; Baku, Azerbaijan; Huelva, Spain; Istanbul, Turkey; Luanda, Angola; Tampico, Mexico; and Tyumen, Russia. Who:               Sister city pairings are official relationships ratified by the mayors and city councils of the respective cities. Houston’s sister city program is run by volunteers who form 17 associations and the umbrella organization Sister Cities of Houston, Inc. The Sister Cities program develops intercultural understanding and promotes international trade and commerce, economic development and tourism. Why:                Sister Cities of Houston coordinates events throughout the year which include the participation of all seventeen sister city associations. The annual men’s soccer tournament reaches out to the local community teams. When:             Saturday, November 3; Game times: 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. 

Sunday, November 4; Game times: 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.; Championship Game 4 p.m. followed by awards ceremony  Where:            Memorial Park, soccer field
