About the Relationship:
Houston has the tenth-largest Asian population and is home to one of the largest and fastest-growing Chinese- and Asian-American communities in the U.S. In addition to these communities, the Houston-Shenzhen Sister City Association strengthens the strong economic and cultural ties between Houston and China.
The association fundraised over $300,000 to donate the Shen-blue statue to the City of Shenzhen. They also collaborated with the City of Shenzhen to develop a “Houston Garden of Spheres” in the City of Shenzhen. The garden represents Houston’s association with space exploration. The local association is currently planning to build a garden representative of Shenzhen in Houston.
